Screens: VNC Remote Desktop App Reviews

Brilliant

With an iPad Pro and Screens, I can leave my laptop in my office and work pretty much anywhere. If Ive forgotten to put a document on iCloud or Onedrive, I can tunnel back to my computer to drop it where it needs to be. And on wifi I can be anywhere in the house and use programs on the Mac that are not on my iPad. It works really well. Make sure there are no routers between your modem and router, however. My Vonage box was causing problems, but it was an easy fix to just put it downstream of my router, and then everything worked perfectly. I recommend very highly.

Crashing - still

The new update for the update still has this crashing within seconds of launch

New version doesnt work at all

Great when it works. Version 3 was solid. Ever since 4.0 it will not connect to any of my Macs. Im still able to SSH to them (with Terminal on the Mac, and Prompt on iOS), and I can connect with Apple Remote Desktop, but Screens always fails to authenticate.

Average joe

Has not worked since upgrading to version 4.0.3 will not connect to computer on iPhone. Authentication times out

Great App

This app is essential and very well designed. I would not hesitate to buy again.

Nice but buggy

As it predecessor it often falls with errors or simply doesnt work not showing why. Sad that it was a separate purchase not an upgrade. What did I pay for?

Just in very own league.

Amazing experience. Thank you guys, even the cost includes deadly sin redemption. Sorry, two.

Works great, almost.

Its a great app, but the trackpad mode its buggy and a pain to use, and yeah I dont like the default mouse option, since trackpad mode in LogMeIn worked great, would be better to have it fixed :)

Best VNC app.

The simplest, most complete VNC app. Versions 4.0.3 and earlier were a bit buggy, but since 4.0.4 things seem stable again.

Latest update introduced huge inconveniences

Since the latest update to 4.0.X, Ive had this annoying bug where my Windows screen refuses to reconnect after the first attempt. I have to resort to creating a new screen every time to use the OS. Additionally, Im finding a terrible lag whenever Im using my OS X screen, which doesnt occur with other VNC apps.

Latest version needs help

Screens is a fantastic app and have used for a couple of years. However, latest version makes connecting with Mac tricky and operation very slow (tons of lag). Half suspect an update might be needed for the portion of the Screens program that exists on the Mac.

Poor Performance After Update

By far my favorite VNC app prior to version 4. Since updating, theres an enormous amount of lag when remotely controlling any Mac OS X system. Im trying to remain hopeful that a fix is forthcoming.

Superb in every way

REALLY happy with this app and the recent free update to Screens 4. Tried many free and paid VNC apps over the years and this one is the best. Overall, Im glad I spent $20 to support the development of a great VNC app. This one is loaded with features and has great design.

Best VNC app.

The simplest, most complete VNC app. Versions 4.0.3 and earlier were a bit buggy. 4.0.4 seems stable for my use cases. If this holds true, Ill give it the 5 stars it deserves.

iPad Pro Support needed

Its not accepting text input from Apples Smart Keyboard for iPad Pro.

Almost perfect.

I love this app. It works like a dream. HOWEVER, theres no Smart Keyboard support. That means if you have the Smart Keyboard connected, you cant use it with your iPad Pro. In fact, you have to disconnect it completely if you want to even use the onscreen keyboard! VERY annoying! Hopefully the developers will address this issue, and then this is a 5 star app.

Amazing work

I tried a few VNC apps, and this is by far the best. Works perfectly (no bugs) on my iPad Pro, and I love how it automatically handles SSH tunneling for added security. Yeah its not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Doc

I followed the very straightforward directions for setup of my iMac & tried it at home on a common network. It connected as described. I tried it from work, a different network, and it repeatedly failed. I reviewed the setup instructions and tried it again the next day - it failed. I sent an email to support and never heard a reply. So at this point I am uninstalling it and cannot recommend. As a caveat both networks are Comcast with no firewalls. Too bad ….

In love

Works flawlessly. Amazing on iPad pro. Like a touch MacBook Air. Sweet!!!

Needs an update

Doesnt work with Logitechs Create Keyboard for the iPad Pro. Probably the same problem behind user reports that it doesnt work with Apples Smart Keyboard for the iPad Pro. Yet another instance (unfortunately) of software needing to catch up with the iPad Pro hardware.
