Screens: VNC Remote Desktop App Reviews

Great app, not much else to say

I wish enterprise remoting products like Citrix Receiver were this good.

Bugs, bugs, bugs!

What used to be a top-notch app with very few issues, is now plagued by bugs. Pinch-to-zoom only works for me about 50% of the time, two-finger scrolling is horribly inconsistent, and the app crashes regularly. Dont know why they ruined a perfectly good app for the sake of a refresh.

Professional workhorse

Clean design, quick performing, powerful, automated and reliable. Quite the value for someone that works from their iOS device and needs to access other computers. Far better than the lesser priced options.

(Still) A step back from version 3

UPDATE: Now in version 4.0.7, and most of the major bugs have been addressed; the app no longer crashes 100% of the time, and I can generally connect without trouble. But hot corners no longer work on exit -- yet another thing that worked just fine in version 3 and has been broken since version 4 launched -- and the UI is still really sluggish on my iPad Air. When I tap the button to bring up the options bar or the keyboard, theres generally a 1-2 second pause for absolutely no reason. Its indicative of the ongoing poorly-tested, sluggish state of Screens. Such a shame. This used to be a good app. ---- Version 4 has been a big disappointment. Curtain mode is good, but the rest has been a hassle: - The first two versions (4.0 and 4.0.1) crashed on launch. - Screens Connect just stopped working, despite me making no changes. - Once I finally got Screens Connect working via port forwarding (which used to not be required), my existing setup in the iOS app didn’t work. Wouldn’t connect. - So I deleted that and added the same exact screen over the network and it connected, though I had to redo all my settings again. - Once I was finally connected, I found the app to be very sluggish. It was nowhere near as smooth as the previous app. Basically, this is one of those “I guess there are some okay minor new features, but a lot of things broke and the rest of the app has taken a big step back” updates. Bummer. The app worked perfectly fine before, and is now worse.

Please help

This app use to work fantastic but now all it does is freeze or kick you off. Please get this fixed ASAP!

Great App, but Sadly Unreliable

I love the design, and when the app works it works well - and you cant argue the developers arent giving us our moneys worth with the new features they keep rolling out. Unfortunately all of that falls apart if the app only works 4/10 times. Remoting into my home Mac from my work Mac works great using both Back to My Mac and Remote Desktop, but over the last few updates Screens simply isnt connecting. When I contacted support we troubleshot my connections, all of which appeared correct, and I was eventually told theres a bug in OS X 10.11 which messes with remote connections. Must just be their remote connection, because all the others I have access to are working great.

Best VNC App

The simplest, most complete VNC app. Version 4 had a buggy start, but 4.0.7 has been stable. Get it!

Great app as always

I’ve always used Screens since its first release because of the really nice design and setup. This new version brings welcomed features like smart pasteboard support and is incredibly faster. It also takes full advantage of the new iOS 7 design with really nice and subtle parallax and transparency effects.

Very very slow

Unusable, at this price its a real steal. Too Much slow!

The best!

The best VNC app on the App Store! Using it for more than a year and it always works great! =)

Awesome!

Man this app is amazing!

Testing

Testing the new version, now seems the app its working fine. Testing. _________________________________ The application worked very well during a period of time, but then it fails again for remote connection. Seems to be an excellent application, but stills unstable.

Wow

What a variety of functions in such a nice design. Yeh its costly, but if you want the leading VNC app than you are right. Apple is costly too. Quality has its price.

Great VNC app

Use this a lot to access my home server when I need to do things that are a drag in the shell. Consistently being updated and faster than ever before. Keep it up!

Requires iOS8?

I do not understand why the app MUST require iOS8. I cannot upgrade. This is not nice to your customers.

Better than iTeleport

I switched from iTeleport, which I used for more than 3 years. iTeleport has gotten unstable lately and Screens is so much more stable. But wait, there is more! With iTeleport I wasnt able to connect to my MacBook when it was in sleep mode, but Screens does every time I try it. This app is the best VNC app in the App Store.

This is the best VNC-App. Period.

As I said in the title: Stop searching, buy Screens. You wont regret it.

Beste Remote Software

Problemlos. Mit oder ohne Connect. Mac oder Windows. Jeden Cent wert.

A big step back

Screens 3 was a huge (and expensive) step forward for VNC clients on iOS. It focused on usability improvement and allowed to even administer a Mac on an iPhone. Screens 4 goes back a big step of that journey – this time for "free". The remote-screen image became smaller, the shortcuts bar at the bottom bigger, the overall visual appearance is back in the 90s. This is the point where you wish you could roll back to an older version of software on iOS, just as you do on a desktop computer.

NOT a major upgrade!

Previous release was just fine. This one, I am unable to see any major enhancements / features to make it worth paying another $20. I, however, bought it (again) just to support the developer. I will update my review / number of stars, IF I find anything that I missed during my initial testing.
