Screens: VNC Remote Desktop App Reviews

DO NOT buy if you have Verizon FiOS

This app, and its Mac counterpart will not work correctly for external access, if you have FiOS at home. When contacting Screens support, their response is that its a hardware problem on my end. It seems their app will only work externally if you use an Apple router directly for internet access. When asked for a workflow to use a FiOS router, they just say contact Verizon and/or its a hardware problem with my router. No solutions. Not a good experience at all.

Excellent!

I put off purchasing Screens for many years and used VNC lite. VNC lite is free and works well enough for checking on status of things. Now that I have used Screens for a few days I realize what I was missing! Everything works well. Even over the internet and even using cell coverage was very usable. Not sure if the reviewer about not buying if using FiOS is completely accurate about using non Apple routers. I just switched from Apple routers to eero this week and Screens never missed a beat with external access. Perhaps the FiOS router is a problem. Anyway, Screens is an excellent product.

Not worth the cost.

Bought the app on sale and still not worth $10. VNCViewer from RealVNC is free. The only thing this app has that one doesnt is touch mode mouse movement. That mode isnt even great because you cant lock the zoom. If you do some slight finger dragging in that mode it drags the whole screen around.

Best VNC App

The simplest, yet most complete VNC app.

Not worth the aggravation...

In my experience, each bug fix breaks the app. Teamviewer is marginally more reliable, but Im sticking with SplashTop, which "just works."

Best in class for what it does

I use an iPad Pro as my main computer but manage a bunch of remote servers around the world. Screens lets me do that with ease. I can also connect to my headless Raspberry Pi, and back when I had a MacBook Pro I could leave it at home and check in on it whenever I needed to. Great app, well worth the money.

No go on muti-monitor setup

Almost unusable if youve a multi-monitor Mac. Pointer just jumps around.

Professional workhorse and nimble - 5 ⭐️ ?

Clean design, quick performing, powerful, automated and reliable. Quite the value for someone that works from their iOS device and needs to access other computers. Far better than the lesser priced options.

Beautiful upgrade

I use his everyday to manage several macs from my iPad and iPhone. Its simply the best VNC client out there. Instabuy!

Excellent app

Excellent app for connecting to Maxs. would recommend this to anyone who need to control a Mac from an iOS device.

Almost but not there; too many port map issues

I have a client looking for ways to control multiple Macs and iPads scattered around the country, and I thought Screens would be perfect. The software however, hiccups at every UPnP and port map roadblock. There are now a slew of apps able to circumvent these issues- Dropbox and Skype for example - that they use with impunity so having them reset their digital life just for Screens is a nonstarter. I will update this missive should the situation change.

THE BEST!!!!

Ive tried two other Remote login apps for my iPad Pro to connect to my iMac and Screens has been the best. I love the trackpad mode and no lag - very fast. Great app - well done!

Indispensable for multiple devices

Use this with two MacBook Pros, a Mac Mini, iPad and iPhone. This is quite possibly one of my most used apps throughout the day. Every day. Great help in our house or from anywhere that our Wi-Fi will reach. It saves a lot of time and effort. Note the developer offers additional Mac component, which I dont need, to safely link your devices from outside your local network. Interface is clean, uncluttered, simply intuitive. Improvements and occasional issues are very well-managed with timely updates. I have contacted developer by email with tech support questions and always receive timely personal response.

Best VNC client out there

Im a paid user of Screens on both Mac and iOS. I use Screens Connect to give me access to both of my Macs from anywhere. Its the best Remote Desktop experience Ive tried, and Ive tried quite a few. The apps are very polished and professional-feeling, comparable to a VMware app. You get what you pay for.

Indespensible

I love this app. I use it to manage the media center (Mac mini) from our couch; or to access my office PC or my wifes machine (both MacBook Pro) when away from the office. I own both the iOS and MacOS version. Works great. Very responsive developer too.

Not Good Would Not Buy

The setup & install does not work as easy as they make you believe, I am still not set up on any device & will be asking for my money back.

Disappointing

I does not work properly. It freezes my computer all the time. I wish I could have my money back. Do not rely on those raving reviews. This is a bad app. Im giving one star because I cannot give zero.

Terrible

This app continuously develops inexplicable bugs that make it unusable. Cursor is all over the place, display selection doesnt work. What happened to this app?

Working again after rocky launch of 4.0

After several updates, v4.0 is finally working for me again. I like the improvements and appreciate the free major upgrade, but Id like to see more focus on QA. I lost my ability to remotely access machines for several weeks, and had no way to revert back to the last 3.x version that still worked.

Issues after latest update...

Enjoyed this app for a while now, but following the latest update I lost the ability to connect through LTE. Only works for me now over wifi, so kind of useless. Not crazy about the interface change, but thats not an issue if I cant use it. Too bad, used to be a rock solid app for me.
