Screens: VNC Remote Desktop App Reviews

Amazing update

I use this app regularly, almost every day, to manage my headless Mac mini. Works really great and thus looking fw to buy the Mac version as well (even though I already have another VNC client). Screens is that good

Latest version needs a lot of work

Random crashes, and not able to reconnect secure sessions. Hopeful these bugs will be worked out in future release, and I can rate it the 5 star program it used to be. Until then, this program is unusable for now.

Great App

Easy to use and does what it says it will do. Works great on my iPad Pro.

Screen Connect issue

I wont rate the app low because its a great app but please fix the ScreensConnect issue on the iPad Pro. After inputting my credentials, the app quits and will continue to quit upon relaunching until the app has been reinstalled.

Works once. Then fails to connect again.

Set it up. Connected to my computers. Closed the App. Launched app. Unable to connect to computers I had just test. Authentication errors.. This app needs a bit more testing.

Might need to re-install

Had a lot of problems after the update(s). The app would not connect like it used to. Had to delete and re-install to get it to work again. Unfortunately this meant saved connections had to be re-created. Now that it’s working again, I can say that this is the best remote app available.

Screens Connect broken with this release

Everything was working fine until the latest version. Now I cant get a remote connection via UPnP or port forwarded SSH (with the port verified open).

4.0.1 Still crashing

9.3.1, iPhone 6 **Update: if you skip Screen Connect login after a reinstall, it works. But entering later still crashes it and unable to open. *Update: did a reinstall after a reboot and app launched, but when I enter screen connect credentials it crashes and will not reopen. On launch after a split second of the splash screen. Absolutely amazing app otherwise. Its amazing how fast and stable it runs.

V4 is absolute garbage!

Always connected in seconds, now takes several minutes if it works at all. Why?? Clearly no testing at all went into V4, absolutely wrecks this app - Im done with an app we relied on for over a year just from this lousy update.

Big step backward

The update dropped all of my settings for no valid technical reason and now regularly crashes. Nice work.

A step back from version 3

Version 4 has been a big disappointment. Curtain mode is good, but the rest has been a hassle: - The first two versions (4.0 and 4.0.1) crashed on launch. - Screens Connect just stopped working, despite me making no changes. - Once I finally got Screens Connect working via port forwarding (which used to not be required), my existing setup in the iOS app didn’t work. Wouldn’t connect. - So I deleted that and added the same exact screen over the network and it connected, though I had to redo all my settings again. - Once I was finally connected, I found the app to be very sluggish. It was nowhere near as smooth as the previous app. Basically, this is one of those “I guess there are some okay minor new features, but a lot of things broke and the rest of the app has taken a big step back” updates. Bummer. The app worked perfectly fine before, and is now worse.

Plagued with bugs, no QA, pile of garbage

This app is a steaming pile of garbage that never shouldve been released. Theyve had to do two critical updates in a row just to make the thing usable, and now the toolbar disappears so I have to force quit the app to do anything else. These people need to learn some quality control, or never release an app again.

Error when reconnect secure connection

It still freezes when trying to reconnect a secure connection... I am not able to connect to my Windows PC...

Terrible, terrible update

Rescinding my earlier more positive review of this update. So many broken features (two finger scrolling, Spotlight search) and the newly designed shortcut bar is far worse than the previous iteration. Avoid if you havent updated yet.

W. T. F. is wrong with everything???

Why is everything blowing up with this 4.x.x release?!? This used to be my go-to remote mgmt app. Now App is force closing every time I attempt to open it, all because I signed in to ScreensConnect... And yes, I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it. Please bring back v3, and FLUSH this one down the toilet until after QA has been done. SO ANGRY!

Superb in every way

REALLY happy with this app and the recent free update to Screens 4. Tried many free and paid VNC apps over the years and this one is the best. Overall, Im glad I spent $20 to support the development of a great VNC app. This one is loaded with features and has great design. While some people have had trouble with the recent huge overhaul update, it hasnt been a problem for me and hes been quick to push out bug fixes to everyone. So, the fact it has been very reliable for me and the few bugs that have occurred were urgently fixed, has instilled confidence in me that this is a real good person/team developing this app.

Works. Rocks. Enough said.

The title says it all. As a professional computer consultant, I spend thousands of dollars every year finding the very best application for any given task. Screens wins hands-down. As a published iOS developer, I know a great app when I see one.

A Real Step Backward

This latest version has turned a wonderful, useful app into something of a buggy mess. So many issues I dont know where to start. My biggest gripe is probably with the two-finger scrolling implementation. What used to work perfectly is now almost unusable.

Need Trial Mode

I have used LogMeIn, Team Viewer and Parallels Access but thought I would try Screens. It is a good product however I personally prefer Parallels Access for ease of use and features. If it would have had a trial mode I would not have purchased.

My old review stands

Each version gets better and better. There are several must have apps and this is one. I’ve used Screens since the first version. I dont mind paying what some consider a lot of money for a quality app. This app does remote access very well. I use it to help my Dad when he needs help mostly. Its perfect for family remote assistance.
