Screens: VNC Remote Desktop App Reviews

Downloaded Screens from the App Store, immediately clicked into the new app, then through a couple of intuitive in-app-options and in literally under a minute had setup and browsed my MacBook Air laptop, home Mac workstation and attached hard drives - from iPad mini. I should note that I have long used the remote access ability included in OSX and the Apple Airpot router so these machines were already appropriately configured and required no additional settings or software changes.

Im adjusting my review to encourage development to finally release the next version of this app with some of the keyboard fixes planned!

Theres some weird jumpy behavior when using the trackpad mode on the iPad Pro. The screen likes to jitter a little bit for no reason if I move the mouse in certain ways. It works pretty well on the iPhone 6 though.

Previously it worked great and was one of my favorite apps. But for the past several months it will not connect from an outside network. Ive followed all of their instructions to try to troubleshoot and more but to no avail. I dont know if something changed in OS X or the app but remote access is 75% of why I paid for this app.

Attempting to tunnel VNC over SSH does not work. Just get a connecting... Message that hangs forever. I bought this app specifically for this feature and since its not working at all, Im not a happy customer. Additionally, their documentation of this feature and other advanced features is very poor, which is also unacceptable considering I paid good money for this app.

This app has a terrible feature that zooms out if you swipe too close to edge of the display and its just terrible. Can you please at least make that an option that be turned off?

Ive tried nearly all the apps allowing control of a Mac via an iPad/iPhone. This app is brilliant, by far the best. Reliable, fast, with a thoughtful UI. Its allowed me to leave my MacBook at home and work only with my iPad—the 10% of the time I cant easily do something on the iPad, I log into screens and easily finish the task on my Mac. Again, brilliant. With every penny. Just get it.

Just really annoying and poor support/instructions. Doesnt work.

I use his everyday to manage several macs from my iPad and iPhone. Its simply the best VNC client out there. Instabuy!

I use this app all the time and its super reliable. Pre 4.0, this had everything I needed. 4.0 brings newer iOS features in an already great package. Great update! Worth every penny.

Love this app. I use it to manage the media center (Mac mini) from our couch; or to access my office PC or my wifes machine (both MacBook Pro) when away from the office. Works great. Very responsive developer too.

This version crash all the time that I try to sing on screen connect

Nope. No good. I was already unhappy with the horrible mouse performance when connecting to one particular Mac. Now the app crashes back to the home screen immediately after launching. Cruddy software that doesnt work nearly as well as the free VNC alternative.

Its been the best vnc app since forever, but still gets even better with every update.

I purchased this app based on a Macstories.net review. Unfortunately the app doesnt launch on my IPad Pro and is useless. Please fix this issue. Edit: The problem occurs when logging into ScreensConnect during the initial setup screen. From that point on the application fails to load and a reinstall is required. Edit2: The application also crashes during the ScreensConnect login if the initial set up screen is skipped. The main problem seems to be ScreensConnect.

Latest version is a huge update. The added features and improved UI are everything I was hoping for. Combined with an iPad Pro 12.9” this version offers excellent control over remote workstations.
